Q: Tell us a little about yourself and your professional background.
A: I have always had a passion for technology, especially data science, and I decided to focus on that early on in my studies at school. I earned my undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communications in 2004, then went on to receive my Masters in Network Communications with honors in 2007. My first job in the States was with NASA, while pursuing my Masters degree. Professionally, that led me to specialize in software and application development in the oil and gas industry with companies like ExxonMobil and Gulf State Engineering. I also found myself in the financial sector as well, developing mortgage and finance applications for Stewart Lending Services. Through my diverse career, I realized the power of data to make positive changes in almost any industry.
Q: What led you to starting your own business?
A: I began to recognize that both small and large companies have barriers to implementing new applications - even when the benefits were quite obvious. Statistically, less than 50% of application features that are developed are ever used. I wanted to provide a direct way for companies to reach their goals through managing and analyzing data. As an outside consultants, We have the ability to cut through the red tape, with solutions that deliver actionable insight.
Q: What are some traditional challenges you face in your field, and how are you overcoming them?
A: People sometimes have this idea that data is abstract - they don’t know how to use it so they don’t see it as valuable. My job is to harness data and put it into a format that is easy to understand, and more importantly, something that can drive educated business decisions. I have found that certain industries are more receptive than others to the concept of “Big Data” and how unlocking the power can truly change their business. It’s about awareness, and knowing how to approach management teams in a way that makes sense for them. My experience in many different sectors gives me an understanding of what these companies need, and how I can help.
